May is the Mothering Month

Where would we be without mothers? To begin with, not here on earth having this physical experience.

I went to a Catholic School and can remember the May crowning ceremony honoring mother Mary. There were flowers, songs, and one year, if memory serves me correctly, I carried the crown. If memory is incorrect, seeing it in my mind’s eye still serves me so I hold that image.

The picture of placing a flower crown on the statue of Mary’s head warms my soul. Reverence for the mother is about the divine feminine – the one who holds everything in its nascent form. All babies, ideas, thoughts, and relationships begin inside.

The inner world is the realm of the feminine. It is dark and mysterious and until we shine a light on it, hidden from our view. And it is personal.

I am a supporter of mothers, young children and soul development. It is my work to give a voice to these areas which are in the realm of the feminine.

I have come to know and understand the mother, the child, and the soul -through my own experience, research, and listening to others.

My soul carries the imprint of my experiences, my emotions and my desires. It guides me on my personal destiny path.

I also have a spirit – which shines a light on my experience. It is the source of unconditional acceptance of all that is in my soul and in the world.

Personal experiences link to emotions and stories held in my soul. Spirit is universal and transcendent.

The interaction of soul and spirit inside me calls my attention when challenges, disappointments and unwanted outcomes make me stop and feel to process them.

My spirit lifts me up and helps me turn raw material from my soul into nuggets of wisdom that bring understanding. Life’s experience has revealed this to me again and again.

Life gives me all I need to grow, if I work with it. That’s why I have dedicated my life to soul development (my own and supporting others) and the education of young children who inspire us to become worthy of being their guides.

How long have I read about soul and spirit before I had a direct experience of them and how they interact within me? As long as I needed to, to be able to understand them.

That’s the work of the divine feminine – it is an inside job – one that we must do for ourselves! Accepting one’s self and life as it is. Generating joy. Creating what is ours to create and receiving what comes to us.

That’s the power within us – it is feminine and divine. It is personal and universal. I created a mothering altar this month to honor it.

It has images of the feminine, flowers, and a bit of magic or a hint of what lies beyond the physical world. That’s how I see the mysterious power that lives within us.

It can look like magic when it happens but involves a lot of soul development work until it is does.

Happy Mothering Month to all the creators out there which is you – every one of you!
